What now?
We all have both a fixed and growth mindset.
Anything that you are good at, came about because you have a growth mindset on it.
Skills or activities that you think you “can’t do” are because you have a fixed mindset on it.
The question is what do you do when you find yourself challenged - do you lean towards a growth mindset or a fixed mindset? Do you give up or try to find a way to make it work?
By developing your mindset to default to a growth mindset, you’ll be more successful, feel better about yourself and learn a whole lot more!
As you know, the first thing I’m going to say is notice what is happening.
You’re not going to be able to change anything until you recognize what is going on. Self-awareness;)
Your next step is to identify the specific problem.
Ask yourself, what’s the challenge?
Why am I getting frustrated?
Don’t just say, I don’t know how to do this.
Get very specific -
What part can’t you do?
Where are you getting stuck?
Before moving onto the final step, you may want to take a break.
Do something not related to the task you are struggling with, reground yourself and come back.
When you are ready, begin looking for a strategy to help you solve the problem.
Who can help you?
Can you google it?
Is there another way to go about this to get to your desired result?
Yes, this takes patience.
Remember it’s about the process.
The more you do it, more growth mindset will become the default.
Your challenge this week is to catch yourself at least one time falling into a fixed mindset and change it to a growth mindset.
