In the previous episode we spoke about why you want to work on your core issue instead of putting on band aid.
It’s like putting on plaster and paint on the whole in the wall without first fixing the leak.
Spotting a core issue may be a challenge because you are in it.
You’ve been behaving this way for so many years that it’s hard to think it can be any different, but as you get better at using the following plan, you’ll begin to get better at spotting core issues.
Here’s what you’ve got to do to spot a core issue:
1. You recognize you’re struggling or got a challenge - without the awareness nothing is going to change.
2. Ask yourself - what is causing this problem?
3. Once you have the answer, ask yourself again, what is causing this problem?
Continue this train of thought until you’ve hit the core problem.
The core issue will usually be an emotional or cognitive issue.
That is the problem you are going to solve.
Just like if you have a leak, you’ve got to fix the leak AND the hole the leak created.
Once the core issue is solved, you may have to solve the problems this core problem created.
Your challenge this week is to connect to follow this plan and spot a core issue.
