Why is it that no matter how much you plan, it doesn’t work out?
Or maybe you’re not such a planner, but you whatever you do try to do, always turns out wrong?
Imagine you're in the process of finishing a training. You were hoping on being done by now, but life happened, and you've still got a long way to go.
Like most the real-life challenges we give on this podcast, there are many thinking skills related to why your plans are not working out.
If you are new here, thinking is made up of 28 cognitive functions, 28 thinking skills that affect most of our daily activities.
Being that there is 28 thinking skills, naturally some of them are going to be stronger than others.
The weaker ones are making it hard for you to do what you want to do.
In order to make a plan and follow it through, you need to use, holding multiple pieces of info at once, time, hypothetical thinking, categorizations, comparing, having a need to make a plan and few more thinking skills.
Today we are going to focus on the cognitive function of episodic grasp of reality.
In simple English it means understanding reality. Understanding what happens in life. Understanding how life works.
Understanding reality is highly related to conjunction words - Because, after, when, if, until, then..
When you understand the meaning of these words, and more importantly how they show up in your life, you improve your cognitive function of understanding reality.
A reason why your plans are not working out can be your brain is not understanding how these conjunction words are affecting your actions.
There is a gap between the idea in your head and the action is the conjunction, is understanding realty.
This does NOT mean you can’t achieve your goals. It means you have to change your action to help you get the goal. Makes sense?
To get better at understanding reality, you’ll want to study conjunction words (then, after, or, by, why, when) and see how they show up in your life.
See how they show up in your life.
Write sentences with it.
When your plans don’t work out, see what the gap was, what conjunction word can you put it.
Back to our example of not being done the training, the gap would be understanding what caused you not to be done.

What caused you not to finished your plan?
This is not about excuses, it’s about understanding.
This is an abstract concept and takes time to really internalize and understand.
Your challenge this week is to choose one situation where you plans didn't work out. Then write a few sentences - with conjunction words, to help your brain figure out what went wrong.
