Getting Your Handle on Meal Prepping

CUSTOM JAVASCRIPT / HTML

Do you feel like you’re using too much time cooking and prepping food?
Have you tried meal prepping before but it hasn’t worked for you?
We are going to change it. Easy meal prep to give you more time to focus on your business or things you love to do.

Real Life Challenge

For today’s real life challenge imagine you glance at the bottom of your screen and notice you’ve got to pick up your kids in 10 minutes. Where did all the time go? Your kids are going to come home straaavving and get filled up on junk… Then no dinner.
Is there a way you can throw something together now so by the time they get home there’s real food prepared?

Cognitive Functions

Thinking is not one big thing.
Thinking is made up of 28 parts called cognitive functions.
In order to do almost any activity - including meal planning, you need to use multiple cognitive functions.

Two cognitive functions you use a lot when meal planning is having a need to make a plan and categorization.
If any of those are weak, meal planning will be a challenge.

Having a Need to Make a Plan in Meal Prep

Having a need to make a plan is exactly what is sounds like.
WHY should you plan and prepare your meals?
What benefit is it going to give you?
If your brain doesn’t have a good reason why, it’s not going to want to do it, no matter how easy it is.
So grab a pen and paper or open a new google doc and start jotting down reasons, Why should you meal prep?

Saves times, saves money, eat healthy, always have food on hand. Meal preparations takes too much time away from business. What is it for you?

Got good reasons? Good. Now we’re ready to take action.

Meal Prepping Using Categorizations

Categorizing is about taking a big group and splitting it into small groups.
It's also about taking small groups and putting them in a big group.

You’ll probably want to meal prep is to use categorizations in both directions.

6 steps to Meal Prepping Using Categorizations:

  • Choose one or two bases (big group) that you will use every day. Is it chicken, salmon, maybe beef or chickpeas?
  • Decide on recipes for each day using these bases (splitting it into groups). As you get better at this you will start finding (and collecting) recipes that use more similar ingredients (think fried onions or roasted potatoes) - that is more grouping!
  • Create your shopping list based on your recipes.
  • Create one day week to shop.
  • One day a week to cook.
  • Store the food according to day.

Another option is every time you cook, cook for 3x the amount you need and freeze two thirds of it.
This will give you a stock for days you realize your kids are coming home in 10 minutes. 😉

You are NOT required to do what I just shared. (Personally, meal prepping is something I do depending on the season I’m in.)

However, if you are resenting what I just shared, I want you take that as sign.
WHY are you resenting it?
Are you seeing it as even more work?
Are you saying you can’t do this?
Are you saying it easier to just figure it out as you go along? ALL of that are signs of weak cognitive functions, and I want to help you.

If you need help figuring out with cognitive function it is, DM on Instagram @lifepixuniversity and we’ll figure it out together.
