Applying Your Takeaways

CUSTOM JAVASCRIPT / HTML

Case Study

A growth-oriented coach, Cassie was the sort of person who had many takeaways from every workshop, course or mastermind she attended.

However, it didn’t necessarily translate into applying the takeaways to business and life.

Thinking Skills

While you are doing any task, you (without even realizing it!) are using your 28 thinking skills.

When the thinking skills you need to use are strong, doing the task is easy.
If the thinking skill you need to use is weak, doing the task will be a challenge.

The struggle that Cassie had, came from a weak thinking skill of projecting virtual relationships

Projecting Virtual Relationships

Projecting virtual relationships is about seeing connections that aren’t super obvious.
EX: Oranges grow on a tree even if we buy them in the store
OR clients aren’t converting on the sales call as they are don’t believe it will work for them.

In Cassie’s case, even though she understood what was being thought, since it wasn’t outright getting connected to other areas of life, the takeaway, stayed just that, a takeaway.

Until she joined Optimize Your ADHD Brain where she learned about Life Principals

Life Principles

A life principle is a sentence of wisdom that can apply to almost any area of your life.

During every session of Optimize Your ADHD Brain, everyone writes a life principle based on their takeaways or strategies they’ve used.

Here are some examples of life principles that came out of sessions:

  • Bigger problems are simpler to solve because they have more starting points - Batsheva
  • When I use precise language I am better understood - Lia
  • Time and energy spent on understanding and simplifying your model is inversely correlated to the time spent doing the task. - Tomasz

A simple framework you can use to help you get started writing your life principles is:
When I… Then I…

Here are some When I... Then I... examples that came out of sessions:

  • When I slow down and pay attention to relevant cues, then I can better understand and respond to my environment. - Tiffany
  • When I self-mediate (ask myself questions), then I could constructively solve problems - Malky

Why Life Principles Work So Well

What super important about a life principle is that it is not about a specific situation, rather it’s generalized sentence that can apply to many areas of life.

Creating life principles works so well because you are helping your brain connect your takeaway to other areas of your life.

If you want to take your life principles and project virtual relationships one step further, as soon as you write a life principle, give an example of where else in life would this apply?

Ever since joining Optimize Your ADHD Brain, Cassie has been writing life principles anytime she has a takeaways so her brain can implement it immediately.

Your Challenge

Your challenge this week is to create at least 2 life principles.

If you’re not sure how to phrase it, use this framework: When I… Then I….

Bonus:
DM me on Instagram @lifepixuniversity or on LinkedIn ST Rappaport with your life principles. I always to see them!
